Emma Caulfield in a Far-From-Sleepy “Hollow”

I don’t know how I missed this little gem of a short film from a couple of years ago.  Especially since I love Emma Caulfield so much.  She won two acting awards for her dramatic performance.  Watch the film and why will be obvious.  Be warned: this is not just creepy but deeply unsettling.

Here’s the film’s webpage with interesting info.

And here’s the film, posted to Youtube by the cinematographer:

ETA: Embedding was disabled at the poster’s request so you have to go to YouTube , I guess:

Here’s a link.

It was exactly as you said it would be, Your Majesty. Emma rocks hard.

I really liked the short, jaynelovesvera, it was beautiful & horrifying. For something like this though, I feel like I stumbled into a little David Lynch and am left wondering what did the red door signify (did it lead directly to the broken home? was he the one who initially locked it? did he unlock it?), what part of the story was real (was the nice family a dream? or was it a set up for the nightmare that maybe he broke his family?).

Are there cliff notes? Maybe a discussion would help.

But you’re right. Emma was wonderful in it. I believed her every step of the way. And her changes in character were so fluid it was easy to forget which part was the dream or the waking nightmare.

I too thought of Lynch. The synopsis at the film’s website left me with as many questions as the film. And as great as Emma’s comedic chops are, I wish she’d do more dramatic roles–that last longer.

She was supposed to be in Open Water 2: Adrift but dropped out at the last minute. The film was far from great but the concept–adults all jump in the water then find no one can get back on the boat to care for the infant left aboard–had potential. Emma would certainly have improved the film.

I like Korkster’s questions better than the synopsis. They’re definitely the questions to ask.

Cuz all the answers are . . . *horrifying* bwahahahahahehhehhehheeheehee.
