1. Do something better than he’s ever done, rather than just remind him how much he’s accomplished or say that whatever he does will be better than anything else on TV — all things she can say sincerely, but unlikely to make the love pump beat faster and swell . . . sweller.
2. Challenge her a lot to do things she’s never done. That lets him know she’ll not only let him take chances, but demand them of him. And it gives him the mission of seeing, and bringing out more, in her.
