Lil’ Fungi’s Rap: The Fungus Among Us
In part two of the Prodigeek interview with Joss Whedon he says he wanted a stucture to write a song by. This mention of structure reminded me of my little ditty based on our fungal friends. It’s not much, but my youngest got a kick out of it when she was into rap.
Lil’ Fungi’s Rap
I aint like other rappers, talkin’ bout they latest ho.
You know my hoe, mama, is for diggin’ up some mo’.
You rumble down your street in your big gold beast
Speakers a-blarin’—they was paid for by my yeast.
When dat big engine growls, goin’ vroom vroom vroom
Doan forget that you started barterin’ my big mushroom.
Why you hide your past, girl, quaking up an down with fear?
If it wannit for me baby, there’d be no bubbles in your beer.
Lil’ Fungi’s still the man an I’ll be makin’ me a killin’
Sellin’ all that hot stuff—whattheycallit?—penicillin!
I seen your new rich daddy thinks he’s such a black Morel.
Well, I got mo’ bling, mama, on my pinkie—caint you tell?
So don’t you be actin’, now, like you too good for my grind
Cos there’s sumpin’ humpin’ mama, that you just might find.
Now gimme back my bread girl, you know just where it’s put.
Or I’ll fix you—and Morel—with some flamin’ athlete’s foot!
